graminoid
A graminoid (grám-uh-noyd) is a grass-like plant, including sedges, rushes, and true grasses. Graminoids typically have narrow, upright leaves and grow in tufts or clumps. Although not all graminoids are grasses, they share similar forms and ecological functions, forming the base layer in many plant communities.
