food web
Food web activity refers to the dynamic interactions among organisms as they feed on one another within an ecosystem. It involves the movement of energy and nutrients from producers, such as native plants, through herbivores, predators, scavengers, and decomposers.
Rather than a simple chain, a food web reflects the interconnected feeding relationships found in nature, where most species occupy multiple roles as both predator and prey.
High food web activity indicates rich biodiversity and ongoing ecological processes such as pollination, seed dispersal, predation, decomposition, and nutrient cycling.
