diurnal

Diurnal (dy-úrn-uhl) organisms are active during the day and rest at night.

This daytime rhythm helps synchronize feeding, pollination, and reproduction with cycles of light and temperature, creating vital links between plants and the wildlife that depend on them.

In the Santa Cruz Mountains, diurnal species include deer, hawks, lizards, bees, and butterflies, whose daily cycles align with the sunlight, warmth, and seasonal rhythms of plants.
