riparian ecosystem

A biologically rich habitat found along the margins of rivers, creeks, streams, and wetlands. These ecosystems are characterized by the presence of water, seasonal flooding, and nutrient-rich soils, which support high biodiversity and complex food webs.

Riparian ecosystems provide essential services, including water filtration, bank stabilization, wildlife corridors, and breeding habitats for birds, amphibians, insects, and mammals.
