A huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and supporters who came out for this morning's cleanup at Lompico Pond.
We were treated to a very special reminder of why this work matters — we discovered two tiny fawns quietly bedded down near the pond while their mother stayed nearby in the surrounding habitat. We adjusted our work area and continued cleanup quietly on the opposite side of the pond so the deer could remain undisturbed. It was a beautiful example of the pond functioning as an important wildlife habitat, and a timely one: many animals are actively raising young this time of late spring.
We truly appreciate the care, respect, and stewardship this community consistently brings to the project. Your efforts to remove invasives, improve habitat, and protect the pond are making a real difference.
As always, we welcome volunteers on the 4th Saturday of each month from 10:00 AM to noon — whether you're able to join for the full session or just part of it, we'd love to see you there.
Thank you all for helping create a peaceful refuge for wildlife and for our community.
